This morning I did the Gyro 10k run between Chiswick and Hammersmith Bridges in West London. The last 10k I did was the Bupa Capital Run but that was ages ago and with a the Sprint triathlon in between I really wasn't sure how things were going to pan out. That, and the fact that I've been out every night over the last 10 days.
Anyway, it was really well organised for such a small race and I would definitely do it again. It's probably not the first race you ever want to do if you are slow purely because there's nowhere to hide if that makes you uncomfortable. But, if that doesn't bother you at all then go for it.
I managed my 10k in a new PB of 1 hour 9 mins and 7 seconds which is really pleasing. I walked only across Hammersmith Bridge which took 2.5 minutes and was after 47 minutes continuous running so all in all not bad. My first 5k I did in 29 minutes 59 seconds which is absolutely a new PB but also explains why I was so knackered by the end of it all.
It will be interesting to see if Wednesday's lunch time 5k is anywhere near the 30 minute mark. My Wed PB is 32:26.
Anyway, for now this concludes my running calendar. Sort of. I did do a silly thing a while back but I haven't made up my mind what to do about it yet. Eitherway, I'll head off to France at the weekend on the back of a new 10k PB and all the justification in the world to eat, drink and be merry cheering on the boys in green as they look to conquer les bleues.
